Legacy in a Cup: My Grandparent’s House Café
Nestled beside the serene Chao Phraya River in the heart of Bangkok, “”My Grandparent’s House”” café invites you to step into the charm of a 91-year-old building. Currently run by the fourth generation of the Thangsombat family, let us share the story of Pim, the devoted family member who brought this building back to life.
Pim encountered numerous challenges before assuming control of this historically rich place. His initial aspiration of becoming a diplomat took an unforeseen turn when unexpected crowds gathered during the café’s restoration. Initially hesitant, Pim ultimately embraced the responsibility, embarking on a journey that turned the café into the thriving hub we see today.
Pim’s love for heritage traces back to his childhood. Guided by a family that cherished antiques and vintage treasures, his curiosity was sparked at a young age. For him, heritage is not just about preserving the physical; it is about peeling back the layers to discover the stories concealed within each artefact.
Over time, the café transformed from a quiet spot for the elderly into a heritage hub, sharing stories through its atmosphere and commitment to preserving culture, thanks to the collective efforts of Pim and other family members.
In Pim’s own words, “”Life often takes unexpected turns. Give new things a try, and you might find your true passion.”” This culinary adventure proves that even unexpected paths can lead to incredible places.
