Product Description
Welcome to Prince Theatre Heritage Stay!
Price Theatre Heritage Stay is the one and only theater hotel in Bangkok.
The Prince Theatre Heritage Stay was once a casino in 1912. Later, the property was rebranded as a neighborhood movie house in 1917. After Prince’s heyday in the 1970s, the rise of malls and multiplexes in the 1980s and 90s posed a challenge to independent cinemas like Prince Theatre. To survive, Prince Theatre took a daring turn by screening films that the mainstream malls couldn’t show, leading to its transformation into a Nude Film Cinema. This unique concept sustained the venue until its closure in 2010. However, in 2017, Montara, a renowned hospitality group, took over the property and renovated it to its former glory. The venue was rebranded as Prince Theatre Heritage Stay, attracting tourists and reintroducing this cultural gem to a new generation of Thais.
The Box Office Bar transformed from the 100-year-old wooden theater, serves up refreshments, snacks, and a delightful a la carte breakfast featuring both continental and local options. Guests can also savor signature mocktails inspired by classic films. The transformation of the cinema room into a common bar area showcases adaptive reuse, a sustainable architectural approach that repurposes existing structures for new uses while preserving their historic essence.
Conveniently located just 400 meters from Saphan Taksin BTS Skytrain Station and Sathorn Pier, this eco-conscious haven also encourages eco-friendly travel. Guests can explore historical Chao Phraya River sites via the city’s iconic long-tailed boats, making it an ideal choice for the environmentally conscious traveler.
Architectural Details
The architecture style of the Prince Theatre Heritage Stay is a harmonious blend of historic charm and modern aesthetics. The exterior of the hostel retains some of the original architectural elements like ornate detailing and decorative moldings that reflect the cinema’s heritage from the early 1900s. The rooms are described as having minimalistic decor that aligns with modern design principles that emphasize simplicity and functionality. Many buildings from that era featured high ceilings, and this aspect has been preserved, giving the interior a sense of spaciousness and grandeur.
