Doc Medard was raised to work the land and later pursued a medical career with the support of his older sister. He studied at Saint Louis University in Baguio, Philippines and took his training at Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital for his Opthalmology specialization. Driven by a deep passion for farming, he returned to his roots to protect and preserve nature on his farm. His efforts include re-establishing the watershed in Dingras by introducing native and endemic trees such as Philippine native fig trees and preserving the dipterocarp forests in Ilocos Norte. In his free time, he enjoys farming, forest bathing, trail hiking, and mountain biking.
